The foreshore to the west of Hythe seafront is the southern boundary of the MOD Hythe firing range.
As a result, it is largely closed to the public for
obvious safety reasons.
When the range is not in use, the public may walk the
foreshore path from Fisherman's Beach to The Redoubt.
Because this stretch of
beach is not used much, there is quite an interesting variety of wildlife that
is not normally seen on the main stretch of seafront.
This page is reserved to
inform the public of the days that the west foreshore is
open.
Although reasonable care is taken to make sure this
information is accurate,
anyone intending to walk the west foreshore should check that the
RED FLAGS ARE NOT BEING FLOWN and that the offshore range boat is not on duty.
PLEASE NOTE - THE TABLE REFERS TO HYTHE RANGE ACTIVITY
If the Activity column has a time in it e.g. 0830-1630, then the range is in use and
the foreshore is NOT open for public use within those hours.
If the Activity column has CLOSED or NONE TO DATE in it,
then the foreshore is open for public use.
