Walk 7: Total distance 8 miles (12¾ km).
Walk to West Hythe past ruins of St. Mary's Church then follow the Saxon Shore Way east and northeast until Pedlinge Farm where walk turns towards Brockhill Park and back to Hythe.
Gradient: flat to West Hythe, then some moderate climbs interspersed with flat, cross-country sections.
Follow itinerary of Walk 6 along Canal until MoD permissive path.
Instead of climbing to the Sound mirror follow path (HB70) left at bottom of the Roughs parallel with Canal to bridleway and later road past St. Mary's Church (ruin, 11th century).
At main road turn right up Lympne Hill to footpath left (0.2miles 0.12km).
Path climbs up field to bank with steps up to driveway of Lympne Castle, where it joins the Saxon Shore Way (SSW). Turn right to main road (Roman Road) and follow SSW sign down road to Shepway Cross. SSW continues along Old London Road until stile on left. Take flat path across country towards Pedlinge bearing left at junction with bridleway.
Cross main road (caution!) to Pedlinge Farm.
At this point the walk leaves the SSW and proceeds with Pedlinge Chapel on the left.
Follow bridleway east with field fence to right.
At gate keep going ahead (south west), with view of Brockhill School in front.
After ¼ mile (0.4 km) from Pedlinge arrive at gate and steps down to field. Descend and cross meadow to gate into Brockhill Park. Turn left upwards with stream (right) then into wooded area.
Path descends to interesting walk around lake then upwards to Visitors Centre.
Take footpath from left side of visitor parking to Sandling Road and turn left.
After short section along the pavement rejoin the Saxon Shore Way. Follow SSW right where it crosses the road. Path can be very wet but improves as gains height.
After ¼ mile (0.4 km) path divides. SSW continues northeast.
To return to Hythe descend alongside rail track to Rectory Lane.
Alternatively leave SSW at Grange Road to return by country road.
